07 June 2019 - World Food Safety Day
In December 2018, the WHO declared 07 June 2019 as the inaugural World Food Safety Day with the theme Food Safety: Everyone's business.
Food safety covers all areas of the food production chain - from the farmer, through to the waitron serving customers and the homemaker preparing food for the family at home. If there is a break in the food safety chain, the product may be compromised and results in illness.
The WHO has posted information relating to the 5 keys for Safer Food on their website, along with a video, training material and other resources for anyone handling food.
